TWITTER

Yesterday my friend Cllr Andrew McConnell persuaded me to join Twitter. Within a very short time I had 30 followers including Barack Obama, No. 10 Downing Street, the BBC and Sarah Brown, wife of the Prime Minister. I am a reluctant recruit because I have very little free time and do not intend to 'tweet' boring trivial details of my daily domestic routine to the world every five minutes.

However Andrew says that I must use 21st Century technology to communicate with my electorate - so here I am!!

I'm avoiding twitter. I tried it once and collected a small host of 'friends'. I found one of them had over 8,000 'friends'. Admittedly I'm a luddite in all matters technological*, but this seemed a rather sad reflection on modern relationships, and the concept of 'friendship' altogether.

*I was advised to start a blog, against my natural inclinations. Perversely, it's enabled me to send out a request for help from individuals around the world in a battle with a faceless corporation in the uk. Huge conglomerates may hold the power. As an insignificant individual, the blog has given me an opportunity to voice my concern at this particular organisation's indifference to their own incompetence.

Hi Leigh. Thanks for the wise words. I am not sure about Twitter but have decided to give it a try.

Have not the time to engage in daily tweets with other people
