JOHN BUNYAN DAY

Today is John Bunyan Day commemorating the day John Bunyan, author of The Pilgrim's Progress died in 1688, 320 years ago. John Bunyan was born in Elstow and baptised in Elstow Abbey, so a special joint concert was organised with the Elstow John Bunyan Christian Fellowship - Brass on the Grass on Elstow Green with a picnic tea.

Sadly the damp weather forced the service indoors into Elstow Abbey, where the Gadsden Brass Band played some favourite hymns chosen by church members including Shine Jesus Shine and Cwm Rhondda. The picnic tea was eaten in the Church Hall.

Elstow residents are fortunate to live in a very historic village with many Bunyan links and close to the beautiful 11th Century Elstow Abbey Church of St. Mary and St. Helena and the 15th Century Moot Hall housing an important John Bunyan Museum.
